This 27 hole layout has been described as the 'Wentworth of the North' and has received its' fair share of praise since opening in 1995. The holes are carved out of a pine forest with as few trees removed as possible.

The layout uses the natural features of the land, incorporating two loops of nine holes - one set in attractive parkland and the other in more demanding and gently undulating woodloand.

The Rothschild and The Rosebery are played over rolling parkland and feature lakes, woods and spinneys. All greens have been constructed to USGA specification and sown with Penncross Bent grass, which gives an excellent year round putting surface.

The Woodside contrasts with the Lakes course in many ways - it is well worth playing both if you are here on a weekend golf break. The shorter Woodside course, 6,623 yards long, runs along the forested estate - spectacular at any time of year - especially in the autumn.

This par 72 Championship course can be a tricky course for high handicappers, with lakes guarding the approaches to many greens. Course management and shot placement is key here. The holes are long and the fairways tight, so anything wayward from the tee could result in you having to lay up in front of the water. The 9th hole is over 600 yards, one of the longest in Europe.
